I received a letter today from House of Kolor informing me that they will no longer be importing from the States into the UK. This sad news further compounded by the fact that they have made Paul Burke redundant. I have spoken to Paul Burke and he is going to continue to try and import independantly if he can find a way around the red tape. Reality is - its looking a bit shit for House of Kolor, my shelves are shrinking fast so if you need anything get it whilst you still can. |

It is these bloody VOC rules. Only custom painters can use solvent based paints these days, commercial operations being forced to use low VOC, waterbased paints which are nowhere near as good in the long term as solvent based paints. I can see why Valspar would look to pull the solvent operation from Europe, doesn't mean I agree with it buit I can see why they would do it. Best wishes to Paul and fingers crossed he finds a way to get the stuff over here. |

So why is there a class promoting the stuff later in the year? Something doesn't add up. |

Bloody typical, how long have we waited to get our grubby hands on it in little airbrush bottles and now they are pulling the plug  What's our other options? I will not be going back to AA, that stuff is only good for one thing in my eyes |

Beej hasn't prob been told yet - they have told their premier distributors so I guess this will slowly filter down the chain to the dealers. Not sure on the class though - HOK hire the training centre through ADPCC so that may still go ahead although they let Beej down before so fingers crossed. I'm looking at stocking Outrageous Paints - got colour chips and price lists, products are good, easier to use and cheaper to. I shall keep you guys posted. Ironically - the airbrush sized bottles are as fast moving as I thought. Its the Quarts and Gallons I cant keep up with! lol

I've done a bit of digging today and it seems that it will be back in the UK - but its going to take some time. When it does become available it will be just that - available! Up until now its been very difficult to get hold of in that stock levels would just not cope with demand. I know who the new distributor is going to be and they share my views on decent stock levels. As far as I know things are running low for most people, I have no 311 or SG100 and dont think anyone else has either. Paul Burke was the National Sales Manager - from what I know the UK supplied the rest of Europe, including Russia. I dont usually ship abroad as shipping costs are extortionate, if you can find someone who will actually ship it for you. I cant give a time frame on availability but usual turn around time for orders from the states is around 12 weeks. So thats all I know today! |
