If you notice E'tac are also selling Grex airbrushes. https://www.usairbrush.com/index.php?main_p...b382a39fcb53422 One is exclusively theirs that you can't get anywhere else. They had been talking for a while about the paint and who they should work with. Golden and Medea where mentioned but I think they favoured E'tac as they are a similar size company.

Grex wanted something to put in their combo kits and this is what they came up with. Personally I think it's a good idea, working in partnership in this business is better than going it alone. Think Iwata/Medea...

This economy dictates that you either work with a complimentary business or you fold, that is why I work closely with local engineering firms and suppliers. Yes you can get stuff made cheaper in China, but you can't go round and kick their arses to get something made or if they screw it up lol

yes but it can backfire - Iwata Medea are now a bit of a thorn in Anest Iwata's side due to the economics of their buying and selling mechanics.

Anest cant compete with their own sister company! lol B)

yep it was Olympos medea at one time , letraset devilbiss etc etc the list is never ending

both companies feeding off the others established market

you do however have to be wary of whome you asociate your product with

Createx have taken the other route and thier airbrushes are H&S but badged up as Createx in much the same way Sudo sell German made airbrushes rather than H&S airbrushes which is what they in fact are

going on that Stu do you or can you retail the Createx airbrushes so maybe the folk who want H&S can buy them from you along with spares ??

Simair have sold everything from Olympos to H&S and Sparmax ,i believe the Airbrush companies premiair is a Sparmax model

back to the subject in hand i wasnt certain if this was a colaboration or if Etac had been sold to Grex ,not that its any more than interesting trivia

the thing im wondering though is if Iwata split from Medea will we suddenly see a whole bunch of artists suddenly change to the next airbrush Medea are selling ;)

one thing that i have just noted about this ,there is actualy no mention of Etac ,its Grex Private Stock

doese this mean etac are crating up thier product for other companies ?

just like H&S Badger etc etc do with thier products

its going to be very confusing for the users if this is the case ,i have a hell of game keeping up with which airbrush was made where by whome for whome without the paint companies doing the same ,i wonder if the pricing system is going to be the same or will one be dearer than the other ???

Alhambra, CA —December 9, 2009—Grex unveiled Private Stock™, a revolutionary paint system totaling over 50 different colors.

Private Stock™ is made from a blend of acrylics designed and formulated for performance to give users full control on every surface imaginable.

“Private Stock™ continues the tradition at Grex in creating quality products for our users. Some companies know airbrushes and others knows paint. Grex understands the synergy of airbrush and paint with Private Stock™” says Daniel Huynh, Director of Business Development.

It’s been built from the ground up specifically for airbrush use. It is water-based, non-toxic and environmentally-friendly. But unlike other water-based paints, it uses proprietary nano-technology that results in minimal dry tip issues and excellent flow to ensure maximum performance and superior control, even with fine nozzle airbrushes.

In creating Private Stock™, pigments of the finest quality with regards to purity, strength and performance are used. All colors are extremely light fast representing the highest ratings without requiring health or precautionary labeling.

Private Stock™ is versatile. It can be used on all materials, ranging from illustration boards to textiles, wood, leather, glass, metals and plastics that include HDPE, PVC, PET, LEXAN and Polycarbonate.

The paint system is precision manufactured for accurate and repeatable mixing of an infinite color spectrum. This top quality color system also includes a comprehensive range of modifiers that allow users to change the properties of the paints and create a variety of special effects.

Pricing and Availability: Private Stock is offered in 1 fl.oz (30mL) bottles and will be available in December 2009 through GREX Authorized Resellers. For more information about Private Stock and other Grex products, please visit http://www.grexusa.com/grexairbrush/private_stock.php5

About Grex: Grex's philosophy in offering high quality products have allowed it to gain a well-known reputation worldwide since 1995. Grex continues to spearhead with innovative and original products to surpass the expectations of consumer needs.

I'd have thought they'd have problems with trademark infringement though if it were an own formulation.
