I am getting some small jobs here, but the cost of farming out my clear coating is just stupid! $250 to clear a helmet is just nuts. I am going to try to do some ski and snowboard helmets soon, but I have to keep the cost low. I was going to build a smaal shop in the garden later this year, but I need to clear coat now. So I am thinking of building a booth indoors! I know it sounds ridiculous but, In the basement I have an unused area, about 12 feet by 10 feet. It has 12" insulation above separating it from the main house. There is a window that is 4' by 3' that opens fully to vent via large fan. I can totally seal this area off. Any constructive advice greatley received guys! I can't carry on without being able to do my own clearing! |

none iso clears are available but they dont like cooler temps ,that apart i would advise building yourself an activated carbon box filter ,the carbon is available fairly cheaply but buy high grade stuff .something about the size of a teachest would do you fine ,use a prefilter of spun polyester which will preserve the carbon and the fan used to draw air through ,you now have something that serves two purposes ,one health and two smell OK those are directly tied to one another in the case of 2K but smell is the dead givaway that your operating from home which is probably as ilegal as it is over here  vent to the outside and you should be good to go ,as soon as you detect any smell then either recharge the carbon or replece it thats the best i can come up with bud and should keep you safe as can be Paul |

Thanks Paul... Temp will be between 75 and 85 degrees constant. What is the lowest iso available, all I can find is 2.1 VOC I guess that is pretty good? The activated carbon is a great idea!!

iso free should available to you however you may be best talking directly to a paint supplier ,churchills do it in the UK but it may well be another brand over thier or look towards waterbourne clear ,im sure ICI and PPG do a version ,its not as tough as 2K clear but basicly your not doing cars and bikes anyway for the extent of your progects then you will probably be setting up better extraction than a bodyshop by useing activated carbon in what will be relativly high amounts Paul |

i did write them down last time i enquired ,your best bet may be looking at whats available in say PPG ICI etc then finding a dealer for those ,im sure lechler do one Paul |
