using the pic by Felipe Soltero as a reference I had a go with Private Stock on the side of my PC. (basically red, orange, yellow n white) It's the first time I've tried flames without using a stencil at all so I'm fairly happy. but think it would have gone down nicer if I'd not used auto air as the base black. got a long way to go but I'm having fun. I'll probs sand this down at the weekend and have another go ![]() this is before clear of course.

thanks guys.. tho have to say I'm not happy with it today. next time will be better!! I felt that the roughness of the AA base sort of gave the etac a fuzzy texture in the lightly shaded areas.. almost like it really grabs hold of any overspray, and so I thought that if I'd had a smoother base the shading would have gone smoother and helped tighten certain areas up... maybe |

When using the Auto Air base coat sealer I found popping in some reducer stops the grainy build up, you can also give it a light sand. As E'tac is to expensive to use as a base coat I still use the old AA. You really need a smooth surface to apply the E'tac and that's seems to work. Nice fire BTW, without stencils is the way to go, it would be interesting to see this formula done with stencils as well. |

Reduce it correctly, and spray through a gun rather than a brush. I use a .8 touch up gun. Smooth as a babies bum mate. |

if you havent got a small spray gun then perhapse going down the rattle can route for your base may be a better idea ,halfords basecoat system is actualy good quality base ,let it flash for half an our or so then lightly nib it with P800 and your good to go i would always recomend rattle can bases for anyone who hasnt got a small gun to lay larger backrounds as most airbrushes dont cut it for such aplications as for flames i think transparants give a very good effect especialy the likes of etac and autoborne as they use ultra fine pigmented inks rather than actual pigment ,the new autoair candy is no more than pigmented ink just less loaded with the pigments than the transparants paint versions Paul |

on these PC sides I have usually used U-Pol rattle can to get the base coats down. I do have a 2HP 24litre compressor which came with a (what I presume will be rubbish) spray gun. I'll have to give it a try. I have bought a mini spray gun as well, but I was keeping that for clear only. |

Use the mini gun.... It will make a big difference... I have found that I am slowly buying more guns for different use! Primer, clear, base coats, flakes etc. By the way Paul, that binks gun I got from you, what would that be good for? |

its ideal for bases and reduced clears ,they are rated as one of the best smart repair guns on the market ,i have cleared with it a few times and also used it for candies ,i had two of them the gravity and the suction ,i swopped the gravity for a mike learn Mojo it would be more than ideal for autoair and autoborne Paul |
