:Beej: what colours are available in the Jurek range as the current lists seems pretty limited compared to Comart :(

i use CMYK but at the moment i would be limited to RYB
also did you discover if the clear extender is available in larger quantities

Paul,
can I ask why you use CMYK method? It has always puzzled me why. I know Etac make a big thing of it, I just don't understand. When I have asked them, they just tend to ignore me!

well CMYK are arguably the true primary colours but that apart i use the linux colour picker program to scan images which then gives me the exact ratios to mix that colour in CMYK ,in fact you could call this the computer version of the carder method but without any trial and error mixeing

heres another reason http://www.december.com/html/spec/colorcmyk.html
just choose a colour off the chart and bam its yours
the black is always left out for paints as its too strong and is just added to tone as needed

the % convert directly to drops asuming the pigment loading is consistant in your paints from one colour to the next which i found Etac is but so are others

if you find the formulas give too much material the divide then by whatever factor you need to get the same colour but in different quantities

70% equels 70 drops so on and so forth so ignore the fact you get well over 100% on some formulas as the % is related to the individual pigment not the overall amount of the formula if you follow
all in all CMYK allows you to mix any colour under the rainbow just like an inkjet printer doese

Ok Paul,

I understand the reason. As a trained colour technician since 1976, I don't think it is right. But I can understand how it works, and why someone would use it.
