Check The Stand Up - Sit Down Desk

Beej, I looked for some suitable linear actuators and found several that might do the job.
I need to figure out how much travel you need from the sitting to standing position to be able to source the correct units. Can you give me an idea?

A standard desk is 740mm from top to floor, how much taller would you want the top (maximum rise as you don't have to raise it to the max to reach the desired height).

it sounds like you are a fabricator and as i have been acused of makeing a few things up recently so i can relate to that haha

had a deal with me for an airbrush and as of yet i havent purchased any of his wares so i feel a little embaressed as he has been very generous towards me right from the off

anyway i will take more care reading posts in future as i do try to be lighthearted and most of my quips are not ment to offend however the internet doesnt truly allow for inflexion so i will try to make the most of the emoticons in future

Jesus,Do not think They will sell many of them to us struggling artist but Nice idea , I will post a photo of the old drawing table I have .Its from Harland and wolf's shipyard . real old time, fully adjustable and folds flat into a table .

I use two surfaces. I have a suspension bench and a regular low table I like to use for detailing.
In the OR(operating room) we use a pedestal table on a heavy duty hydraulic riser. I bet you could find a gear head to retrofit a pedestal for you.
You could also have a tube frame base and peg system.

I know what you mean. I had neck surgery(two discs removed and two titanium plates attached to fuse it) in May of this year and am still in recovery mode. Have some permanent nerve damage to my legs as a result of the neck issue but hopefully the surgery halted progression. I feel good but have to still watch what I do and frequently change positions.
I stand alot when I paint as well.

Beej: Most of my work is done on a 4 x 4 x 4 high bench with easels on top now for the comfort part I made this from an old car seat and a cheap $9.00 swivel bar stool



It has the lumbar support in the seat and I can recline in it too

Hey, i know this is an old post but thought i would add a bit.

I am getting a table from ikea, its got legs that allow you to raise and lower the table as well as tilt it. so you can actually use the table as a easel, The legs are sold separately to the table top, so you can customise a table/plank of wood you have already. or you can buy a top like i am.

The top i am buying is like a drafts persons table it has a metal strip you can add on so when the table is tilted things don't slide off, it also has a glass section/window for tracing.


Its dirt cheap too.
